Adult Classes

At PNB School, we believe dance encourages students of all ages to express themselves, have fun, and build community – all while getting a great workout! Our Adult Program offers classes for all skills and fitness levels. Each one is taught by PNB School’s renowned faculty in our airy facilities.

Please note: Preregistration through Mindbody is required. Registration closes one hour prior to the start of class. Studios and schedules may change.

Programs

Drop-In Classes

PNB School’s Drop-In Classes work for you and your schedule! All classes are taught by PNB School faculty, held in our spacious studios in Seattle and Bellevue, and feature live accompaniment. Single classes are $20, or save with our variety of multi-class pack options!

Fundamentals Classes

At the very beginning your dance journey? PNB’s Fundamental Classes are for you! Develop your dancing skills during weekly, an hour and a half long sessions in a welcoming and supportive environment. Register for all six weeks for $120.

PNBConditioning (Pilates at PNB)

PNBConditioning’s Pilates sessions develop core strength and stability, increase flexibility, and work for any fitness level. We offer Mat, Reformer, and both Private and Semi-Private reformer classes!

Teachers’ Seminar

Teachers’ Seminar brings together dance educators from across the country for a four-day total immersion experience into the dance training, philosophies, syllabus, and dancer wellness program that makes PNB School one of the nation’s finest professional ballet training institutions.

Class Descriptions

Beginner I

The class is designed for new dancers and will continue to focus and build on concepts such as ballet terminology, basic positions, and building strength. One year of classical ballet training recommended or completion of the Fundamentals of Ballet class.

Beginner II

Upon proficiency in Beginner I, this class is the next level for those dancers looking to refine and enhance their skills, introduce new steps, and add a further challenge. Two years of classical ballet training is recommended.

Intermediate I

A more complex class than that of the beginner levels, this class is set at a quicker pace with more challenging and lengthier combinations. Two to four years of classical ballet training is recommended.

Intermediate II

This class is a middle ground for intermediate and advanced students. Three to four years of classical ballet training is recommended.

Advanced

Our most challenging class with complex combinations and a focus on strong technique, musicality, and artistry as a dancer. At least four years of classical ballet training is recommended.

Class Descriptions

Fundamentals of Modern Dance

This class introduces the fundamentals of modern dance technique with a creative approach. Students will engage in a wide range of physical movements that can be explored at the students’ own individual level of intensity. Movement concepts such as weight shift, articulation, guided improvisation, gesture, rhythm, and sequencing will be discovered throughout this six-week course. No experience necessary. Open to ages 14+ and over.

Fundamentals of Ballet

This class introduces the fundamentals of ballet for new adult students. Fundamentals of Ballet breaks down basic ballet positions, terminology, and musicality to slowly build on your learning each week and enhance your skills. Perfect for those new to ballet, no experience required.

Fundamentals of Ballet II

Following completion of the Fundamentals I course, Fundamentals II is the subsequent level offering a deeper dive in ballet positions, terminology, and musicality at a slightly quicker pace.

Class Descriptions

Pilates Mat

Pilates on the mat is a dynamic mix of exercises that focus on toning, strengthening, and flexibility. Students learn proper body alignment with an emphasis on engaging the core and can expect to use a variety of props while building endurance and balancing muscle groups. With a holistic approach and a variety of modifications available, Pilates is open to all abilities and is accessible to everyone.

Pilates Reformer

The reformer uses springs, pulleys, straps, and a foot bar to encourage concentric and eccentric muscle engagement while stabilizing the spine. Students will tone and stretch during this full body workout which will incorporate small props in addition to the reformer machine. Group reformer classes are limited to a max capacity of four students offering focused instruction for each participant.
