Q&A with Corps Member Lily Wills

What are you most looking forward to for the 50th Anniversary season?

I’m most excited about The Seasons’ Canon because I’m a huge Crystal Pite fan! Her pieces are always so brilliant and emotional, and this one is such a spectacle. I can’t wait to work more on it!

What challenge are you most proud of overcoming?

I’m proud of myself for recovering from two major hip injuries throughout my career. I had to have surgery on my left in 2013 and the right in 2020. It was so difficult, I would not recommend it! But it’s made me a stronger person and I still managed to land a job with my dream company. I used to never tell anyone about my surgeries, but if I can inspire someone in a similar situation, I think it’s worth it to share my experience.

What significance does being part of PNB during the 50th anniversary have to you?

My mom and I used to have season tickets to PNB when I was in high school, and we would road trip from Portland to see shows a few times a year. I fell in love with this company and its unique dancers and rep. I feel so lucky to be on the other side of the curtain now, especially during this special anniversary season. It’s been super rewarding so far, and I can’t wait for what the rest of the season holds!
