Q&A with Soloist Christian Poppe

What is one role that holds special significance for you?

The first role that immediately comes to mind is Aminta from Sylvia Pas de Deux choreographed by Kyle Davis.  It was a role that I did as a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and one from which I learned a significant amount.

What is the most rewarding part of being a dancer?

Performing on stage in front of an audience is always the greatest highlight of being a dancer. It is the culmination of so much work in the studios of rehearsing and preparing and it’s our opportunity to share our art with others.

What is the best advice that you’ve ever received?

To consider what the intention is of the choreography.  It is important to remember what it is you are trying to convey instead of it merely being a series of steps.
